Great Day Visiting the Holdfast Gear Shop in Bixby, OK. New Ambassador Deal!
It’s not often you run across a company that is so impressive and cool you are begging to work with them. Rewind two weeks before today. I was having coffee with a good friend of mine and also my photography mentor - Robert Trawick. We were discussing my upcoming trip to Rochester, NY to shoot the PGA Championship. I told Robert that I needed to get a better option than a camera strap with all the walking I was going to be doing. Before I got it out of my mouth Robert says… Holdfast.. That’s your harness and they are made here in Oklahoma over near Tulsa. I wrote it down in my notes and moved on to another topic of conversation. When we left the coffee shop out of all the things we talked about I knew a harness is the main thing I needed to get moving on. I jumped in my car and immediately pulled up the Holdfast website and Instagram page. As you know I work with multiple different companies but Holdfast was in a different league. Their products were truly amazing. I am a big fan of handmade products and that’s exactly what Holdfast is all about.
Once I looked them up and saw what they were doing I sent a message to the owner asking about their Money Maker Harnesses and if they have any type of ambassadors. After multiple messages back and forth Matthew asked me to be an ambassador and to come over for sizing for my Money Maker. I made the drive over to the Holdfast office and production facility and it was an amazing place. The vibe of the building and the people was something I haven’t seen before. Needless to say I was highly impressed. We talked about how I shoot, what I shoot and how a Money Maker will be ideal for what I do. I looked over all the leather options and landed on the Brindle Black since I am outside and have the chance of being in the rain. The natural backing of the leather straps reduce the bleeding of color when it gets wet. On top of the amazing Money Makers they are producing they have a wide array of products that I want and need!! Matthew and I got everything figured out and his team started producing what would be the greatest harness I have ever seen.
Fast forward two weeks and it arrived… WOW is all I can say. The Money Maker is truly a unique and beautiful piece of work. With the quality of Holdfast sadly my Money Maker wont ever break so I will have to keep adding new variations to my collection rather than replacing.
Fast forward again to the middle of May at the PGA Championship. THE HOLDFAST HARNESS WAS A HUGE HIT IN THE MEDIA CENTER!! and… I actually met a new friend - John Schlia who works for a newspaper in Rochester and was covering the PGA Championship. John had one of the very first Money Maker versions made. So.. he has had it for years and years and it was truly beautiful. It was broken in wonderfully and showed no sign of breaking down at all.
