The Goats & The Graduate
A couple weekends ago my daughter who is a senior asked me to get shots of her wakesurfing with her cap and gown on like I did for her brother. Well.. they turned out great and then the next day she asked to get her picture taken with the goats on Goat Island at Lake Tenkiller in eastern Oklahoma. I was under the impression that Goat Island was vacant and the goats had all died but to my surprise they aren’t and we made our plan. We ate lunch at a marina near Goat Island after about a 30 minute boat drive up to the north side of the lake. After lunch we packed up the leftovers to use as food to get the goats close to us for graduation pictures. As my wife pulled the boat within 30 yards of the bank my daughter and I slipped into the water with her carrying the cap and gown in a bag and me carrying my camera and lenses above my head as I sat on a float and paddled with one hand towards the rocky shore of Goat Island.
As we were swimming / paddling to the shore here came the goats. I believe there were about 7 goats including a couple of babies. They walked straight to the shore to meet us as we made it to them. My daughter quickly got her cap and gown on and we started snapping images as she fed them pizza. At the end of the day I think we got some fun images of her in her cap and gown and I also got some goat images without my daughter since we were there. Enjoy!
